After a week of rigorous testing, the iconic Isuzu MU-X has been awarded second place in the 4x4 Of The Year Award (4x4OTY) at the 2018 Australian Motoring Awards. Harnessing the power of Isuzu’s truck DNA, there is an abundance of low-torque on tap, making the MU-X a confident towing partner but is equally at home offroad, with impressive ground clearance, affording these models true rugged off-road performance. “If someone asked me what car are you going to jump into, not worry about it, take it round Australia, it’s going to be that (the MU-X)” stated Norm Needham, 4x4 Australia. Best 7 seat 4WD Under $60,000 - 2014

In 2014, the Isuzu MU‑X was awarded the Best 7 Seat 4WD under $60,000 for the second year running by OzRoamer Magazine. "Driving the MU‑X is the long lasting Isuzu 3.0L diesel. This engine is one tough motor and is renowned for its build tolerances and longevity. The term indestructible comes to mind” said Anthony Hood, Oz Roamer Magazine. The new Isuzu MU‑X is a strong contender in the family 4WD market. It has almost car/wagon like handling, enough power for almost everything you will ask of it, plenty of creature comforts, 5 star ANCAP safety, will seat 7 in relative comfort, is a robust and competent 4WD and all for less than $60,000."

Best 7 seat 4WD Under $60,000 - 2013

In 2013, Isuzu UTE Australia's seven-seat SUV – the MU‑X – received its first accolade with OzRoamer crowning the MU‑X LS-T as the best seven-seat 4WD Under $60,000. OzRoamer's tester Anthony Hood said that the MU‑X "performed effortlessly" during its evaluation. "We took the Isuzu MU‑X LS-T on a family holiday towing a 2800kg caravan through the narrow windy and hilly back roads of Tasmania. The MU‑X never missed a beat. While towing we averaged about 14-15L/100Km and there was plenty of power and low down torque for the job. That is what I mean by sometimes the figures don't translate to real world driving. The MU‑X performed like it had another 100Nm of torque. "What the Isuzu does though is make you really question why you would pay upwards of $80,000 on some of the other 'family 4WD wagons' it's that good," Hood concluded.

Ute of the Year - 2013

The Isuzu D-MAX was the winner of the 2013 Australian 4WD Action Magazine's Ute of the Year. Widely respected as this country's toughest 4x4 ute test, the D-MAX triumphed over the full-gamut of Australia's one-tonne ute segment; the Toyota HiLux, Mazda BT-50, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara, Holden Colorado and Volkswagen Amarok. "Judging criteria for the 4WDer's Ute of the Year was simple – we wanted to test the vehicles in a way that mimics how they'd be used in real life," said Australian 4WD Action's editor, Brendan Seymour. "This meant loading them almost to their GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass), and then putting them through their paces in every off-road terrain imaginable, from mud, to steep hills, sand and long stretches at higher speeds ... finally, we enlisted the help of seven real 4WDers to test the vehicles like only a true 4WDer can – and the D-MAX came out on top," he added. Not only did the Isuzu D-MAX pick up the overall award, but it also proved the most fuel efficient of the seven utes tested.

Ute of the Year - 2013

The Isuzu D‑MAX was awarded the prestigious title of the 2013 Delivery Magazine "Ute of the Year". Delivery Magazine is widely considered the top Australian publication for news and reviews on all light commercial vehicles. The D‑MAX came out as the number one choice when compared against a strong line-up of competitors including Mazda BT-50, Ford Ranger, VW Amarok, Nissan Navara and Holden Colarado. "The new Isuzu D-MAX is a further refinement of the previous model that builds on the strength and durability of the Isuzu truck name. With a new chassis, new cabin, more powerful and capable version diesel engine, an adaptive automatic transmission and excellent load carrying ability, the D-MAX is a standout performer for daily work requirements." These recent awards again demonstrate that the Isuzu D-MAX is universally revered as one of the world’s best utes and further enhances the D-MAX’s solid reputation for reliability, economy and durability.
